About Me
Jade Ruggieri is a video photojournalist at the award-winning WUSA9 in Washington, D.C. Working in the nation's capitol, she thrives in the fast-paced environment where art and deadline collide.
Previously, she worked at WTVR CBS6 in Richmond, Virginia so she's not a stranger to covering the DMV news. She produced quality stories of the community through visual storytelling. Through planning, shooting videos, and editing, she immerses herself in every aspect to craft stories that give voices to those in the community.

Originally from Maryland, Jade was actively involved in her high school journalism program, Round Table Media, and created over 30 pieces of written and video, held multiple leadership roles, and executive produced the daily broadcast. Since her first journalism class, she knew she wanted to pursue video editing and production as a career.
Even with two years of college occurring during a global pandemic, Jade obtained her B.S. and M.S. in Journalism in an accelerated four-year program at West Virginia University. Through multiple journalism-focused roles within communications, news, and theoretical research, she obtained a position at WTVR before she graduated from college as they recognized her passion for empowering the stories of others.

Her dedication to journalism is showcased in her work as a photographer as she creates and edits daily video packages and breaking news for primetime broadcast shows.

In June 2024, Jade received her first regional Emmy for the team coverage of the deadly graduation day shooting in Richmond after her first year in the industry.
